Successful start at the season opening race of the “Special Touring Car-Trophy H&R Cup” - BMW M3 with 4.0l V8 S65 engine and G-POWER supercharger system wins second place in its class at the Hockenheimring

Technology transfer against the traditional direction – this time it is from the street to the race track. All ready in its second year the GETRAG racing team around Michael Bäder is relying on the 100-times street-proven technology of the G-POWER supercharger systems for the BMW V8 S65 engine. The evidence that the G-POWER V8 S65 supercharger system can stand the extreme condition on the race track has already been supplied by G-POWER with the G-POWE M3 GTS that has been turning heads on many Clubsport events in the past.

The secret of the success of the M3 E46 V8 from the GETRAG racing team around Michael Bäder is the combination of a compact and light body - here the body of the BMW M3 E46 is the best basis for a consequent lightweight concept - and a powerful engine like the 4.0l V8 S65 from the BMW M3 E9X. At the G-POWER manufactory this kind of concept has been successfully implemented as well, like for example with the street legal G1 V8 HURRICANE RS based on a BMW 1M Coupé combined with the V8 S65 engine of the BMW M3.

In order to achieve a power output of approx. 650 hp that would make the M3 E46 competitive in these series, the GETRAG racing team around Michael Bäder is using a supercharger system from G-POWER and so is following in the footsteps of the successful ALPINA B6 GT3 race car. The ALPINA B6 GT3 has been booked, thanks to the use of an ASA supercharger just like at the G-POWER supercharger system, for top positions already in its debut year at the ADAC GT Masters championship, the VLN Endurance Racing Championship, the 24h Race at the Nürburgring and the FIA GT3 European Championship.

Powered like that, the only supercharged car in the starting grid has crossed the finish line in second place in its class at the season opening. All in all a 4th place has been achieved against a 36 participants strong, top-class starting grid, including cars like the Porsche GT2, Porsche GT3 RS, Lamborghini Gallardo, Dodge Viper GTS-R, Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 and the Audi R8 LMS Ultra. The outstanding performance of the M3 E46 V8 has been underpinned furthermore by a 3. place in its class in the second run (again all in all 4th place). The use of the G-POWER supercharger system in extreme racing conditions impressively shows the performance and more over the durability of the combination G-POWER supercharger and BMW M-Engine. These characteristics are based on the exclusive use of components meeting OEM standards, being a basic element of the G-POWER philosophy and one of the secrets for the extraordinary quality, reliability and performance of the G-POWER products.

For its mission in the G-POWER M3 supercharger systems, the way G-POWER is offering them for street legal BMW M3s, the ASA T1-523 has been literally been tailor-made, to provide the giant need for fresh air of the up to 8.500 rpm revving 4.0 litre V8 engine. But the ASA supercharger, flanged to the engine using high-strength mount, is not the only high-tech component of the G-POWER M3 supercharger system. The engineers did not spare any cost or efforts during the development of this supercharger system. Amongst others they even did a sophisticated, computer aided simulation which analyses the conditions of the air-ducting engine parts. The defined goal of this extensive research is to improve the efficiency of the G-POWER supercharger system to the best possible performance.  And the result proofs us right. The G-POWER supercharger system is capable of reducing the specific fuel consumption of the engine. This shows that we do not only care about performance but are concerned of the sensitive use of restricted resources like fuel, as well.  

A further key figure, next to the supercharger, in the G-POWER supercharger system is the complete aluminium cast, large volume air box that is responsible for the perfect throttle response and optimal torque curve. The G-POWER M3 supercharger system is completed by the large air-to-air intercooler that is located in the vehicles front, which cools the boost temperature down to an output optimal level under all circumstances.

G-POWER is offering different performance levels of its supercharger system for the BMW M3, from 500 hp respectively 520 hp in stage SK I, 570 hp respectively 580 hp in stage SK II and finally 615 hp in the SK II CS “HURRICANE 337 Edition”. The prices start from 4.198,00 Euro for the M3 SK I supercharger system plus installation.
