The supercharger itself is the basis for this kind of performance increase. It charges additional air into the engine’s combustion chambers. According to the increased air mass, the optimised engine electronics in combination with the modified fuel supply system deliver an additional amount of fuel. As a result, the engine itself receives more energy per combustion which leads to a higher engine output. However, this only takes place at full load when the driver accesses the engine’s maximum performance. In all other load scenarios, as they occur mostly in daily driving, e.g. city or queue driving, the output resembles the stock parameters since the boost pressure delivered by the supercharger is not being used for enhanced output. Therefore, fuel consumption as well as wear and tear of a G-POWER supercharged engine are broadly similar to their equivalent stock parameters and are significantly affected by the driving behavior.
SK Plus stages are those G-POWER supercharger systems that can do without an air intercooler because of their relatively low boost pressure and moderate charge air temperatures. All other stages, e.g. SK I – SK III, are generally equipped with a charge air intercooling system. Stage SK I differs from stage SK II – apart from the supercharger’s output – also because of the scale of necessary modifications to the exhaust system. SK III supercharger systems always represent the highest relevant stage and generally include a modification to the stock engine. These modifications include reinforced connecting rods as well as forged pistons to reduce the engine’s compression ratio.
Generally, NO. This is one of the key benefits of a G-POWER supercharger system. The engine itself stays unopened and the compression ratio remains stock. Only the highest performance stages of the G-POWER supercharges systems, SK III, require the installation of reinforced connecting rods and forged pistons to reduce the compression ratio.
Yes, necessary services can be performed by any BMW dealership.
Yes. In order to achieve the full potential of a G-POWER supercharger system, it is necessary to fuel the car with at least 98 Octane RON (or 93 Octane AKI for the USA).
After the installation of a G-POWER supercharger system, similar to how it would be in stock, it largely depends on the individual driving behaviour. A constant utilisation of the enhanced performance will certainly result in higher fuel consumption. However, less fuel consumption than stock is also possible if the car is being driven at moderate, constant speeds. In this case, the enhanced power and torque of the supercharged engine enable the driver to switch to a higher gear at lower engine speed in order to achieve the same speeds in daily driving.
The purpose of the G-POWER supercharger systems is to increase the car’s performance. If the additional power output is being utilized constantly, e.g. high-speed driving for extended time periods, an increased wear of the parts needs to be taken into consideration. At moderate driving behaviour like you would mostly face in everyday driving on public roads, wear and tear are negligible. In the development process, G-POWER supercharger systems are always being focused on longevity and durability of the modified engine.
The G-POWER performance increases are generally configured in such a way that a modification of the braking system is not deemed necessary as long as the performance increase of the G-POWER supercharger system is a street legal stage (in Germany). However, please note that an increase in top speed requires an approval of the tyre manufacturer. For all non-street legal and therefore race-developed G-POWER supercharger systems, G-POWER recommends an upgrade to the braking system.
In general, the service intervals remain the same as they were with the stock engine. There is a separate service sheet for the relevant supercharger system as well as the oil change intervals. However, very few parts are needed that vary from the standard BMW service, e.g. air filter. Even the engine oil specifications remain the same as stock.
When directly ordered from G-POWER, we organise the shipping by parcel service or forwarder after we have received the payment in our account.
The delivery time depends on the ordered product. In-stock products are ready for shipping within a couple of work days. For products that are individually produced for the customer, the delivery time itself is extended by the time needed for the production of the referring product.
Of course. Please ask for an individual package price for your inquiry. The G-POWER package offers you the opportunity of having the ordered products installed directly at the G-POWER premises. This grants you the same high quality standard for the installation of our products that you know and appreciate from our products. Benefit from our more than 30 years of experience and our superior know-how concerning our products that we have engineered and produced.
Naturally, you can order the G-POWER products without the installation at the G-POWER premises, except for certain supercharger systems that have been marked accordingly.
Yes, basically you can buy and have the G-POWER products installed directly at your BMW dealer. However, it is important, especially when it comes to our supercharger systems, to have a professional and experienced partner at hand for these works. So, contact us and ask us for such an experienced partner close to your destination.
No, products from earlier production years that are not listed on our website are not produced anymore and hence are no longer available.
